“Tea time is a chance to slow down, pull back and appreciate our surroundings.”

Get the healing powers of medicinal ginger and turmeric with this simple tea recipe! Black pepper and fat improve the absorption of turmeric’s active ingredient, curcumin. Consider adding a splash of your favorite milk or milk alternative, or try a bit of organic coconut oil. You can make the same recipe using fresh ginger and turmeric. Although there are several conversions out there, a general rule of thumb is use 4 times as much fresh ginger root to ginger powder, and 3 times as much fresh turmeric root to turmeric powder.
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon turmeric powder (or 3 teaspoons grated fresh turmeric)
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon ginger powder (or 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger)
¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Your favorite sweetener to taste (optional)
Milk or milk alternative (optional)
Directions:
On the stove top, stir the turmeric into 8 oz of water and bring to a boil on medium heat. Let boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in remaining ingredients. Sip when cool enough, stirring ingredients as needed if ingredients separate. Play around with adding other spices, like cinnamon, allspice, clove and cardamom!
